The Young Man From Far Away

He well may be one from a place far away
But he feels at home in the town by the bay
It reminds him of his coastal hometown in Italy
His dad is a fisher a man of the sea.

He used to help his dad in the fishing boat
But the one old enough to travel is the one old enough to vote
The wanderlust in him for places far away
He left home four years ago in early May.

In the prime of his life he has just turned twenty three
And much more of the bigger World out there for to see
And though he likes it here in this town he won't stay
He won't settle down here and here grow old and gray.

Happy here for the meantime the young man from elsewhere
But much more for him to see of the big World out there
In another town perhaps some distance from here
He will drink a toast to another new year.
