I think of the people I'll never more meet
They lay in their graves in the Parish of Millstreet
People from Cullen and Ballydaly, Millstreet and Millstreet Town
They were good and kind souls and never lived for renown.
The mentors of my young years at peace ever lay
And the changes are many where I once lived today
Yet the babble remains in the clear mountain rill
That flows to the river down the field by the hill.
I think of the people I knew years ago
Though that them I'll never more meet is for me sad to know
They were the quiet achievers who remained as unsung
As well as my role models when I was young.
They may be dead but not in my memory
In my flights of fancy them I often do see
Though from life's cares and worries they have found a release
And where they are now there is silence and peace.
