Nostalgia it is such an amazing thing
He still talks of the hurler the great Christy Ring
His sporting hero as a primary schoolboy
Reminiscing of his young years is a thing he enjoy.
The migrant from Cork City he lives far away
From where he first looked on the bright lamp of day
The passing of the Seasons has left him looking gray
Time ticks on and on as some are known to say.
Forty years out of Cork but the distinctive accent he retain
Some things from the past till death with us remain
The ageing grandfather has turned sixty three
He may die far away from the banks of the Lee.
The love of the Hometown in him remains strong
Where the Lee to the ocean ever babbles along
But he is ageing far south of Hibernia's green shore
Nine thousand miles at a guess or maybe more.
The migrant from Cork City at the local pub
Talks of Christy Ring and the Glen Rovers Club
As from where his accent comes from you should not get wrong
From Cork City in Munster it surely does belong.
