A Pleasant Evening In October

It is a pleasant evening of wind and sunshine
The temperatures close to twenty degrees
And butterflies are flitting above the flower beds
And wattlebirds call on the coastal trees.

Were I a poet I could describe this beauty
The welcome swallows chirping as they fly
And spring is in her prime and looking lovely
And her beauty is for all to enjoy.

On days like today I feel twenty years younger
The warmth of the sun is in my face
This is the nearest to earthly utopia
If indeed there is even such a place.

I love these sunny and windy spring evenings
When everywhere looks so fresh after rain
The fruit trees laden in their pinkish blossoms
Such lovely moments with one will remain.

A sunny and windy evening near end of october
And magpie flute to proclaim territory
And little lark carols above the paddock
And in the distance I can hear the sea.
