Goodbye Patricia

Goodbye Patricia, goodbye to you dear
the summer is over and winter is here
The days they are short and the nights they are long
The rain lashes down and the wind is blowing strong.

Oh how I wish that she were here tonight
Because without her life doesn't seem right
And though another man has taken my place
I never will forget her beautiful face.

When a woman loves you it's easy to tell
And I know Patricia she loved me quite well
But I lead a reckless spendthrift kind of life
And that's why Patricia would not be my wife.

I've left my money in the dog track and bar
And to pay up my debts had to sell off my car
Drinking and gambling is a loser's game
And for losing her I have myself to blame.

For Patricia tomorrow wedding bells will chime
And her friends and relations will have a great time
Tomorrow Patricia will start a new life
When she agrees to become her new lover's wife.

Here's to you Patricia, here's wishing you cheer
May wedded life bring you no regret or tear,
May you be as happy as happy can be
For happy you could not be if married to me.
