Empathy In Their World Is A Stranger

We live in a time when those who show compassion by some are seen as weak in some strange way
That there's no place in society for do gooders the ruthless are the leaders of today
And by them acts of kindness seen as weakness, man take care of thyself you only hear them say
And empathy in their world is a stranger they tell you caring for others does not pay.

Man mind thyself the unwritten commandment the one that Moses forgot to write down
This is the commandment they have adopted only the greedy know wealth and renown
In those who help the poor they say there's something lacking and they never volunteer the helping hand
And to them unpaid social work a form of madness something that they could never understand.

With them it's me and my kith and kin are all that matter and everyone should feather their own nest
And those who never waste their time on others are those who always seem to come out best
They only live for to serve their own interest but they forget that for every good deed
That you do by helping out the needy for your good karma you are sowing the seed.

Their attitude take care of yourself only and let everyone of their own selves take care
And those who do unpaid social work in their eyes very silly and for their heroes they do look elsewhere
But those who help others are sowing good karma and health and happiness they will enjoy
For karma's real despite what some may tell you and the law of karma to all does apply.
