In Fifty Years From Now

In fifty years from now when I am long dead
Will people still talk of the tough times ahead
Or will climate change have come and have gone
And will life in the Planet as usual go on?
Fifty years in time does seem a lengthy span
Not even the average life span of a human
Yet even a decade great changes can bring
Though in ten years from now nesting songbirds will sing
In the depths of the Winter the last week of July
Many of the creeks are not flowing and water dams almost dry
Not one drop of water in the roadside drain
And for the time of year not nearly enough of rain
And those living in fifty years from now great changes will see
But then there won't even be memories left of me.
