The Person You Are

Don't care of your Nationality or color whether you be black, white or brown
Or the place that you come from what city or town
Or the size of your house your swimming pool or car
I just want to know of the person you are.

I just want to know are you generous and kind
Not arrogant or in any way egotistically inclined
Compassion for others are you known to show
The person you are is all of you that I want to know.

Are you unforgiving do you harbour a grudge
And are you judgemental others do you judge
And are you self conceited pride comes before a fall
If so as a person in your ways you are small.

Don't want to know if you own a big share in a big city bank
Or of your place in society or of your social rank
And since I'm a cynical bugger quite hard to impress
I never applaud one for material success.
