Henry Brown

He lived in Kilnamartyra not far from Macroom Town
And though I did know his sisters Eileen and Noreen Brown
I never did meet Henry though of him I did know
He was a famed road bowler going back some time ago
Well known in road bowling circles where his name was to the fore
On the roadways of mid Cork he won many a bowling score
His nieces the Cooney girls famous bowlers perhaps at their prime day
They follow in his footsteps cannot beat breeding as some say
On the narrow by roads of mid Cork he will never bowl again
But with those who knew and met him good memories of him will remain
Our biological clock is ticking and it ever ticks away
And for each and everyone of us a final night and day
Henry Brown the road bowler his last score of bowls did play
And may he ever rest in peace with Nature he now lay.
