His ninety first birthday in june is quite near
And his memory not good and his thinking not clear
He survived World War 2 and by a decade has outlived his wife
And he could not tell you of an easy life
Their only child died as a very young man
He never came home from the war in Vietnam
Suppose such is life but life's not always fair
And he now spends his days sitting in a wheelchair
A Nursing Home Sister pushes his wheelchair around
Within the confines of the Nursing Home Ground
He fought in a war and knew of happy years
Though he and his wife grieved for their loss in tears
He sits in his wheelchair the noble old man
And he will live on for as long as he can.
