His only song a prolonged caw delivered quite slow
The Australian raven the great pale eyed crow
His loud voice can be heard for acres about
And when he sing the long feathers on his neck stand out
Birds that country people do see every day
Out on the brown paddocks or on the roadway
Twelve months of the year Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring
A long drawn out caw is all that they sing
Dark feathered birds that poets tend to ignore
High in the cloud World they never do soar
Unlike wedge tail eagle they never do fly
Upwards and upwards to soar in the sky
Yet they are blessed with a charm of their own
By many rural people well loved and well known.
