Of People Who Died Brave

Of people who died brave and in death were gallant great stories about them we often do hear
But i am not brave i am just a scared mortal and only the fear of death that i do fear
Old age upon me it slowly is creeping it has been awhile now since i was in my life's prime
The biological clock it never stops ticking we all become victims of old father time.

Only mere mortals we best are described as death in it's own time does come to us all
What matter then to us if we are remembered if others our lives do wish to recall
To be remembered to us will not matter posthumous honor does not bring back the dead
Will not matter to you then when your body is lifeless if good or if bad things about you are said.

Of those who died bravely many sing the praises but praise of the living is what matters most
The dead cannot thank you when you sing their praises they do not know when to them you drink a toast
No such a thing as a human immortal the greats from the memory in time even fade
They cannot hear the band play in their memorial Parade.

They did not live to old age for to die old
But in death they were brave and great stories of them told
And though my prime years by now may be long gone
I am one who loves life and i want to live on.
