A Fellow Who Was Raised Near Clara

A fellow who was raised near Clara a two hours by car inland drive from the sea
That's what i tell those who ask where i came from a bloke from there is all i can be
Clara of the Boggeragh Ranges that overlook old Millsteet Town
To be born and raised in Claraghatlea North is my only claim to renown.

I live many miles from old Clara and my better years in life long gone
But in the old Town by the mountain I'm sure life as usual goes on
In the rushy fields west of Millstreet where the babbling Finnow ever flow
I fell in love with Mother Nature but that was a long time ago.

When people ask me where i came from to them i have no wish to lie
I tell them i was born and raised near old Clara though far south of there i may die
Back there in Millstreet in Duhallow i enjoyed my youth and life's prime
And time has left me looking older we all become victims of time.

One who was born and raised near Clara where some of the fields have been given a name
To live within sight of Sliabh Luachra that is my only claim to fame
We all start our life's journeys somewhere i was born under a northern sky
In Claraghatlea just west of Millstreet my heritage i won't deny.
