The Duck Shooter

It is his way of having fun
At duck season to raise his gun
And shoot the wild duck from the sky
For his dog to fetch it from where it die.

On March sixteen duck season opening day
By silent lake Eddy Wood lay
To bag his first duck of the year
The only reason he come here.

He tell me maned goose tough to eat
But black duck very tender meat
And he know the way to cook and pluck
And he has eaten many a duck.

And do you cook them fast or slow?
You ask Eddy he ought to know
For he's cooked wild duck young and old
And eaten them freshly cooked or cold.

He shoot the wild duck from the sky
Such so called sport he does enjoy
And he can't wait that's what he say
Until duck season opening day.
