A Dream Of A Hanson Government (1997)

The ugly creature racism it would seem had fully grown
And any sort of sympathy for outcasts was not forthcoming or not shown
And Australia's first woman Prime Minister Pauline Hanson was enjoying her sense of power
And the rose of multiculture had become a faded flower.

And poor Koorie women weeping, like a river flowed their tears
Their ancestors in Australia for over sixty thousand years
They came from the first Australians and in their history they took pride
Now outcasts in their own homeland and their rights to them denied.

The south Gippsland ex market gardener in spirit he seem quite low
No Asian market for his produce and cash crops nowadays he doesn't sow
An Australian ban on emigration gave rise to a countering trade ban
And Australian producers suffer because of the Hanson plan.

Unemployment on the increase to a high of 36 per cent
And many young Australian families resigned to living in a tent
Business men becoming bankrupt and big city factories closing down
And many of those who voted for the Hanson government sleep rough in parks around the town.

I awoke the dawn was breaking to find it only a bad dream
But on looking back the vision haunts me of how real it all did seem
And by the way the polls are reading change for worse is on the way
And those who vote for Pauline Hanson the high price will also pay.
