You May Be

You may be a very wealthy person and for your generosity know of renown
And with your marvellous gift of money help the poor souls of the town
Do not crave for admiration never wish for glory's crown
Yet whilst many do applaud you there is one to put you down.

You may be looked on as a flawless person a sort of a living saint
Though one or two may beg to differ see you as one not free of taint
There's always one to criticize you having said that maybe more
And they like to spread the rumor that them we should not ignore.

You show them a flowering garden where flowers and roses do abound
They will say they only see weeds on a lovely patch of ground
Suppose one has to forgive them for their mental poverty
In an object of great beauty only ugliness they see.

You may be a famous humanitarian as well as a millionaire
And your wealth amongst the town poor you may be willing to share
But you will have your detractors the one or two who will say
This one is far from perfect in any sort of way.
