We Sometimes Must Hear Things

Either his eyes are not good or his tongue's a bit loose
For I did hear him calling a person a goose
And since geese are birds that one can see on a lake
A goose from a person one cannot mistake.

His terms of reference of course a put down
One of the less sensitive blokes of the town
To refer to someone as a goose is to call that person silly by another name
In such an instance the words goose and silly are one of the same.

His words so insulting or so it did seem
For by his tone of voice what he said he did mean
And said rather loud so those nearby would hear
Quite an ignorant person or so 'twould appear.

Words can be so cruel when used in a cruel way
We hurt people's feelings when cruel things we say
He called the poor bloke a goose with others standing near
We sometimes must hear things we'd rather not hear.
