It can be said of him he was not a sage
The lucky old fellow who died of old age
He lived to see his his great grandchildren and was pre-deceased by his wife
And he did work quite hard during his working life.
In his ninety fifth year his daughter found him dead
He passed on over-night whilst asleep in his bed
None by his bedside a vigil had to keep
Without a pain or ache he just died in his sleep.
He lived a good life never harmed anyone
And in his community respect he won
And though he was not the wisest one so few are wise
He was never deceitful and he never told lies.
A religious person he believed in prayer
And if there is a heaven he is surely there
All Local religious ceremonies he did attend
And he was a believer till his very end.
With the local departed at peace he now lay
The lucky old fellow was buried today
He nodded off to sleep never more for to wake
And he died as he lived without a pain or an ache.
