In A World Of Mistrust

Before we think of changing the World 'tis ourselves we must change
To say something like that may seem a bit strange
To old mistrusts and half truths 'tis not hard to cling
Compassion for others it is such a great thing.

For as long as we think along the lines of the us against they
We drive peace from our thoughts much further away
And if for those different to us we lack in empathy
There is no hope for trust that leads to peace and harmony.

Our difference should not be a reason for hate
Our difference should be a reason to celebrate
Their difference to us should not be seen as a crime
Our thinking belong back in the stone age time.

So few human beings one can say free of sin
And before changing our World we must look within
Ourselves in our search for our higher self there
In a World of mistrust true compassion is rare.
