If Your Friends Are Not Many

You say 'tis not so or you tell me so true
If your friends are not many those to judge you are few
If not many know of you few of you can say
Negative things about you in a derogatory way.

The wealthy and famous bask in their renown
But these are the people many try to drag down
The political leaders for every friend have got a foe
Though those who hate them most they never will know

If your friends are not many then your critics are few
And not many will waste their time downgrading you
Those we know or know of we only criticize
A stranger is just that in all of our eyes.

If your friends are not many then it surely does seem
That few will bother to question your worth or esteem
The wealthy and famous who bask in their renown
Are the people that many are trying to drag down.
