If You Seldom Listen

If you seldom listen and talk more than your share
Then of the insights of others you cannot be aware
For where talk is too plentiful knowledge won't grow
And than the good talker the good listener does seem to know
Far more about life in the big World out there
The knowledgeable talkers do seem rather rare
For after all empty vessels do make the most noise
And you will find that good listeners can also be wise,
They speak rather quietly they never do yell
And from others they learn since they listen well
But the more that you gabble the less you will know
For where talk is abundant how can knowledge grow.
