My inspiration well it seems is running dry
And Poesy of late she keeps passing me by
And though I never did pen what you would call good stuff
My writing efforts as I age becoming more rough.
For more than three decades addicted to rhyme
To many that would seem a huge waste of time
Since they only ask you how much you get paid
And for penning your rhymes how much money you've made.
When you say you only write for a hobby they don't seem impressed
And in you they quickly seem to lose interest
How much money you earn to them only count
As a hobby to their kind to nothing amount.
A hobby to their kind is time spent in the pub
Or a few drinks with their mates at their local bowls club
And if you tell them for a hobby that you paint or write
They look at you as if you are not quite right.
