She saw the fairies dance on the tree tops
And when she told of what she'd seen the others said
She's been either smoking pot or into drugs
Or else the poor thing's not right in the head.
But I've known Mandy for a few years now
And she's never touched marijuana, heroin or cocaine
And mentally with her there's nothing wrong
I've only known her to be wise and sane.
A spiritual type of person in a redneck town
Where to be different there's some price to pay
Some people see the sky as overcast
Even on the brightest and the sunniest day.
She see the fairies on the elm tree
On the high branches she watch them dance and play
The others say she's silly in the head
But I can only believe what she say.
I've never seen the fairies on the trees
The mirror of my soul is closed to light
But Mandy see great wonders every day
And such marvellous things to her a common sight.
Exalted person go and live elsewhere
For in this town you seem quite out of place
You are different to the others and to I
For we are of an unenlightened race.
