The high and narrow Loch road through the green undulating hills keep winding up and down
Through marvellous scenic countryside down towards Wonthaggi Town
And at every corner that you turn there's beauty for to see
Across the open country side that stretch down towards the sea.
But up there on a cold Winter's day the chill is in the breeze
For on those old hills around the Loch road there are not many trees
And for land clearance it always seems there is some price to pay
As most wild things die or else migrate from where trees are cut away.
There was a time before the road was made back a few centuries
That those old hills looked different in their gum and wattle trees
And birds and marsupials in their thousands to be found
Where shrubs and trees are plentiful then wild life too abound.
The high and narrow road that leads from Loch keep winding up and down
Across the scenic countryside down towards Wonthaggi Town
And at every corner of the road there's beauty for to see
Along the undulating hills that dip down towards the sea.
