She was my friend the truest of the true
And dearer friend than her I never knew
A mother like figure in days gone by
Mary my favourite aunt in Lisnaboy.
She is the woman wed to uncle Dan
From infancy a native Cullen man
And I've known her since I was about knee high
Mary my favourite aunt in Lisnaboy.
Like all she's lived through good times and through bad
And she lost the only descendant she had
The only child a baby girl did die
Of Mary my favourite aunt in Lisnaboy.
And though from me she live long miles away
And I have not seen her for many a day
I still love her and that I won't deny
Mary my favourite aunt in Lisnaboy.
And shame on me I know it doesn't seem right
That to my favourite aunt I do not write
But for this Christmas I have vowed that I
Will write to my favourite aunt in Lisnaboy.
