Bessy

Bessy she still believe in the old way
You have to work to earn an honest pay
And that for every one there is some job to do
And that easy money is not good for you.

She feels her family is now in shame
Her son in law for want of better name
Is on the dole drawing welfare from the State
'The shame of it he's not pulling his weight'.

She wonders what her daughter in him see
He's such a burden on society
He draws the dole and sits at home all day
Whilst others work to earn an honest pay.

She know her friends know that her son in law
The easy money from State coffers draw
And she knowing how judgemental they can be
No longer invite them around for tea.

She's not known any happiness of late
Her son in law drawing welfare from the State
Her pride and all she stand for is at stake
And all of this too much for her to take.
