My mum and dad would not feel proud of me Jim Dottle often say
They would feel disappointed were they alive today
They did have big dreams for me but dreams seldom come true
The sort of life they would not have wished for me I've chosen to pursue,
They would not have approved of my social life or of my fondness of the beer
And I've always had a liking for the barroom atmosphere
Mum and dad never drunk alcohol quite a clean living pair
And people of their calibre to say the least seem rare
To them I am so different then no two seem the same
We all seem very different as sure as Jim's my name
For every winner in life somebody has to lose
But I'm a happy fellow I live the way I choose
Mum and dad would not feel proud of me but such is life says Jim
And as for my brother Tony they would feel proud of him.
