The sounds of the Carnival all around me
From the old market stalls in the park by the sea
The sea birds are circling the sunlit wooded hill
And the ocean looks calm and the waves all but still.
'Tis nice to be out in the fresh coastal air
A temporary relief from the stress of life's care
Though the voices of the stall holders and the music of the Carnival I hear
On the wooded hillside it is quite peaceful here.
Amongst the leaves of an acacia a tiny thornbill sing
Perhaps he's mistaken the Autumn for Spring
The weather is warm though a freshening sea breeze
Is blowing up the hillside and soughing in the trees.
Though in the workings of Nature we don't have a say
We thank Mother Nature for days like today
The sun shining bright on the hill by the sea
A memory to cherish in my memory.
