Sue Dennehy

When I was young she was an ageing woman
She lived in her small house in the West End
And she was much loved in and around Millstreet
Sue Dennehy was everybodys friend.

A daughter of Denny Dennehy the greyhound owner breeder
At Cork and Shelbourne park his dogs raced to renown
He became famous far beyond Duhallow
His name was known distant from Millstreet Town.

There was so much to like about that woman
For she would only help you if she could
And she was not one to speak badly of others
Sue Dennehy had in her so much good.

I would like to think that her name will live forever
In Millstreet Town in view of Clara Hill
Why should the good in death then be forgotten
When some evil people are remembered still.

Sue Dennehy was a woman in a billion
A role model in the Millstreet I did know
She went out of her way to help out others
And I still remember her from years ago.
