Jud Sheehan

Jud Sheehan used to play for Slanan Rovers
But he died before his prime as a young man
Today he would be only in his fifties
Of life years he deserved a longer span.

He was a good and a likeable young fellow
And around Cloghoula his praises were sung
His tragic end rocked Millstreet and Duhallow
Perhaps it's true only the good die young.

Jud Sheehan was a victim of a car crash
When he was fast approaching his prime day
The cruel grim reaper came for him so early
'Tis sad to think he died in such a way.

I still have mental pictures of that fellow
In Shaughnessy's field I see him kick the ball
And I see him in the Slanan Rovers colours
Such moments I feel happy to recall.

Jud Sheehan was a person I remember
As nice as one could ever wish to meet
He was a credit to his place Cloghoula
And likewise to the Parish of Millstreet.
