The Young Woman From Mullumbimby

The young woman from Mullumbimby In South Gippsland won't grow old
She's only been here a few months but she find the winter cold
In northern New South Wales the climate warmer by five degrees or so
In parts of the high country of Victoria in winter they have snow.

The young woman from Mullumbimby feels homesick in the south
Since she came to live in Gippsland she says she has found out
How much she loves the sub tropics she will be home by spring
When the figbird and pied butcherbird have their sweetest notes to sing.

The young woman from the cane country is only twenty two
With hair as golden as ripened corn and eyes of duck egg blue
Bronzed from the warmer climate she makes friends easily
And by those who know her she'll be missed from Inverloch by the sea.

The young beauty from Mullumbimby she has a lovely smile
A warm and friendly person free of conceit and guile
But she'll be back home by september when blossoms adorn the fruit trees
And the weather warm and pleasant around twenty five degrees.
