Rabbit's Nest

She fears for her oncoming family
And all the world is now her enemy
And from kith and kindred she is forced to flee
And dig out nesting hole midst grassy lea.

She know too well that her cruel and jealous mate
Would kill his offsprings in a fit of hate
And in safe hiding place she hide herself away
And nurse her babes through their life's early days.

With ball of dried out grass she forms a nest
And line it with the soft fur from her breast
And there the mother rabbit will give birth
Beneath the grass in her own private earth.

Next time you see a burrow in the ground
And there are burrows nowhere else around
It's more than likely that this burrow could be
A home for rabbit and her family.
