Pauline The Poetess

In truth she is not a bad looking woman the dark haired middle aged poetess Pauline
And she's a well known contemporary writer and her poems have earned her respect and esteem
Yet for one of such knowledge and such wisdom she does not understand men well at all
As one of her poems to her naivety bear witness though some of the words I now cannot recall.

The gist of her poem is that fellows of her own age her hidden beauty do not seem to see
That many greying fellows in their forties attracted to women far younger than she
But what seems to escape her is why most fellows of her age keep turning the hands back of time
Is that by fantasizing of younger women they linger for far longer in their prime.

Yes us human males are complex creatures more complex than most realize
And that older males should prefer younger women should not come as any surprise
For a man is old when he stops looking and a woman as old as she look
But having said that by the cover one cannot judge what's in the book.

One might say a very fine poetess and a high literary place she command
But despite her great knowledge and wisdom she does not seem to understand
The reason why ageing males prefer younger women but suppose it would be fair to say
That men and women are quite different and see things in a different way
