I Must Go Back To The Yarra Ranges

I must go back to the Ranges the Yarra ranges far away
Where the wildborn birds are calling in the high woods all the day
Where the fluting of the butcherbird is carrying in the breeze
That blows across the mountain through the eucalyptus trees.

The Rarra Ranges formerly known as The Dandenong Ranges or as the Sherbrooke Shire
The artists and the writers has been known for to inspire
To sketch and for to write about the high wooded countryside
An Australian natural wonder it's fame known Worldwide.

I must go back to the Yarra Ranges in the warmth of January
The high woodlands east of Melbourne are ever calling me
Home of the mountain ash the giant gums and the small tree fern tree
A place that belong to Nature of rare beauty for to see.

I must go back to the Yarra Ranges in fancy I can hear
The calling of the currawongs to tell that rain is near
To the wooded hills east of Melbourne where peace and beauty meet
In a place that belong to Nature distant from the noisy street.
