The same boring faces that you've known for years
The girls of your youth are becoming Old Dears
The lust of the wander still with you today
You'd still like to leave but 'tis easier to stay.
You'd still like to leave as you did in your prime
But you've been caught up on by old Father Time
The lust of the wander took most of your school mates to places far away
Yet perhaps you are not any worse off than they.
The town you were born in is where you will die
And you can only dream of a far distant sky
A man in your sixties with gray in your hair
And too late now to leave for the big World out there.
Tired of your surroundings and tired of your life
And tired of being nagged at by your cranky ageing wife
Your eldest grand child she has turned nineteen
And some of the bigger World out there she already has seen.
The clock on your life it ticks on and on
And old age is approaching and your better days gone
For a life of adventure you've left it too late
Time hurried along and for you did not wait.
The same boring faces their years now are showing
And another generation into adulthood growing
And in your old Hometown you are destined to die
Though are you any worse off than those such as I?
