Life is so sad for Rachel since Danny passed away
She plucks a wild flower from the park for to place on his grave every day
And though it has been six months since he died the grief with her remain
And the things they did together they will never do again.
The things they did together they never more will do
But to her old mate's memory she ever will be true
In the Townpark together they enjoyed their game of ball
Such very happy moments she ever will recall.
Danny so quickly seemed to age and grow unsteady on his feet
And for him no more ball games in the park just a short walk down the street
She found him dead at the back door her faithful white and black
And the Vet in his autopsy said he died from a heart attack.
His grave is in the backyard beside the apple tree
With a plastic coated photo of him on a timber cross for to honour his memory
And Rachel's dog more than a dog to her he was a faithful friend
And despite the onset of poor health he loved her till his end.
Rachel is thirteen years old the same age as her canine mate
Who often welcomed her home from school with a wagging tail by the backyard gate
And she miss her black and white border collie with a white patch on his face
Since dogs like Danny are so rare and none to take his place.
