Our Need For Recognition

Some great writers as we know don't give us the impression they are great
Though we like to sing their praises and them we do celebrate
Whilst some average writers with big egos feel they deserve more fame
Suppose everyone is different and no two are the same.

Whether it comes through art or literature, athletics or football
Our need for recognition it is within us all
The truly humble of heart have never been so rare
The pauper as we well know envies the millionaire.

Of seeing newspaper photos of well known politicians I must say I've grown tired
But they like everybody else have this need to be admired
Suppose if we don't like ourself or like the way we look
We send that message to the World few buy a poorly written book.

Suppose some quite talented people of their talents aware
And they do not have to prove to the bigger World out there
That they are good at what they do only those of their true worth in doubt
Their disappointment at their lack of recognition like to broadcast about.
