Your Reckoning Day

You may be the most famous and wealthiest one in the town
And your's may be more than a local renown
But with your success do not get carried away
For you too there will be a reckoning day.

Are you one who gives credit to where credit is due
And to your higher self are you one who is true
Or of the feelings of others are you not aware
And for self and self only do you only care.

Success as we know is so hard to define
And your views on that may be different to mine
The honest, kind and caring seem successful to me
Though with my thinking on such you do not agree.

Though many will see you as a great success
By the money and assets you have come to possess
It is not your wealth or the size of your house or your car
That tells me anything of the person you are.

Materially the most successful for many miles around
And wealthier than you are may be hard to be found
But as a person these things of you little do say
And will not be seen as important on your reckoning day.
