The Road That Leads From Millstreet To Rathmore

I've driven on it many times before
The road that leads from Millstreet to Rathmore
That through green old Ballydaly winds it's way
Perhaps I'll drive on it again one day.

When hawthorns wear their white blooms of the May
And sparrows with feathers line their nests a ball of dried grass and hay
Under the house eaves of the countryside
To what once was by our thoughts we seem tied.

When dark brown white breasted dipper is singing in the rill
That babbles by the hedgerow down the hill
On to the big river flowing with a will
It's silver tongue is never ever still.

The road to Rathmore out of Millstreet Town
That through Ballydaly winds it's way up and down
It is a roadway i do know quite well
And many stories of it i could tell.
