As Wise As They Come

There is this old fellow I meet every day
As wise as they come though with few words to say
A widower Grand-dad in his mid seventies his hair silver gray
Quite a charming fellow in his own quiet way
He is often out walking in the park off of high street
A pleasure to know and a pleasure to meet
A favourite quote of his is 'not all are good and kind
But in everybody some good you will find'
Last year his wife in her early seventies passed away
In the local cemetery her remains do lay
She withered away like a rose of the Fall
Their fifty years together with fondness he recall
So wise and so gentle a man I admire
And of singing his praises I never could tire.
