I hear them every morning in the Parkland at daybreak
The pee wee song of the pee wee one never could mistake
In late Winter they build their cup shaped mud nest on fork of branch of tree
The black and white birds known as magpie lark or mudlark or to many as pee wee
Their kind live all around Australia east, west and north and south
That they are fair dinkum Aussies there isn't any doubt
They live in country paddocks and in town parks by the sea
And even on the city streets them one often does see
Their brief unvaried pee wee song seems pleasant just the same
Of humans they show little fear they do seem almost tame
Much like Miniature Aussie magpies though of a different race
The birds who make themselves at home in almost any place
So lovely and dainty for to look at and confiding in their way
These beautiful Australians I see them every day.
