The Pride Of Meningie

Her dad's Country Ireland she never may see
The shores of Hibernia on the Atlantic sea
The young woman of the Coorong of Indigenous Race
Brown skin, dark hair and brown eyes and a beautiful face
In her early twenties and in her life's prime
Her mother descended from the people of the Dreamtime
Any of her Irish cousins she has not met or seen
A long way from Meningie to Ballyporeen
Unconceited, beautiful and free of any guile
With the warmth of charm in her wonderful smile
The white salt pans of the Coorong from her home she can see
Where the pelicans fish near the Pacific sea
The pride of Meningie unshackled by care
One who of her great beauty does not seem aware.
