Love Of Place

Love of Country does seem an over-rated thing
Since the praises of love of place most like to sing
Yes love of place does have a place in the heart
That from other loves seem to place it apart
Most migrants through their lives a strong sense of place do retain
And in their flights of fancy they return again
To the town where they first looked on the lamp of day
In distance from where they live now far away
For one reason or other only they can tell you why
Love of place to some never does seem to apply
They were happy to leave for to settle elsewhere
And they never do talk of the years they spent there
Yet many the love of place through life retain
And if only in fancy return to there again.
