The cares of the World have gone to your head
If you cannot laugh you may as well be dead
Compared to others your worries are little yet you always seem down
There is never a prize for the saddest face of the town.
You once seemed near happy and almost carefree
But now the life of the party you never will be
Amongst happy people you would feel out of place
It has been a while now since a smile crossed your face.
'Tis been a while now since you laughed loud and long
The unhappy person always sings a sad song
The unhappy person so few wish to know
And apart from you old friends even seem to grow.
Alone in the bar-room you sit with your beer
Whilst the others in small groups are brimful of cheer
Since you do not know how to smile as if your face is of stone
They do not ask you to join them and you feel alone.
