The Labourer's Prayer

Dear god I have you to thank for what I am
A very happy and a healthy man
You gave me two good legs to walk around
And two strong hands for to earn and honest pound.

Dear god I have you to thank for blessing me
For ears that hear and two good eyes that see
For speaking mouth and nose that breathe in air
As health goes I must be a millionaire.

Dear god I have you to thank for my good health
It means a good deal more to me than wealth
Without good health what use would money be?
Without good health life would be misery.

Dear god I have you to thank for everything
To me you are the one and only king
It is you alone decide on life and death,
It is you give life and take the living breath.
