A woman now in her seventies and one the conservatives fear
And she is a marvellous writer and one might say a female seer
She stands on the side of the battlers though her message not all wish to hear
And she is an Australian icon the one and only Germaine Greer.

A woman of such striking beauty so bright and so graceful and tall
And she does not hide any secrets her soul she bares to one and all
Some may see her as quite confronting and may not believe in what she say
But they would not dare to accuse her of not standing up for fair play

For the Aboriginal people whose ancestors have lived in Australia for how long the gods only know
She speaks out for them in a big way and she also speaks for a fair go
For the down trodden and poor homeless people and the Stateless war refugees
Who risked their lives for a better life in leaky boats over rough seas.

She speaks out for the rights of women and all worth while causes she embrace
And if only a quarter of the population were like her the world to live in would be a better place
Though the red neck element do not like her they see her as a threat in some way
She still speaks out for the worthy causes and heed to them never does pay.

She is a very famous writer one who enjoys world wide acclaim
But she is a down to earth person and she is unchanged by her fame
And when others are long forgotten her life story the scribes will recall
And they will say of brave Germaine Greer that she believed in a fair go for all.
