An Unpatriotic Man
I have never fought in war i could never be that brave Or national colours wore or a national flag did wave An unpatriotic man is all that i can be Though not something to be proud of that does not bother me Far too many homes, villages, cities and towns destroyed and far too many have died For love of a national flag and for sake of national pride Embrace your gift of life it came to you by chance Your land and place of birth a gift of circumstance We should embrace the gift of life and die in the natural way Though in shootings and in bombings people dying in war zones every day I will cling to my gift of life for as long as i can And hopefully die without pain and in my sleep as an old man An unpatriotic man i will be until the day i die If i told you otherwise then that would be a lie.
