In mudbrick house built on the high ground where she can
Alone in her room in the morning enjoying a nice cup of tea
Away from polluted suburbia, unhurried and totally free.
She's tired of her humdrum existence her lot of the mother
And she'd like to break shackles that bind her and bring
Her children of her time demanding their screaming on her
And her husband is down at the local enjoying the night out
Fear stops her of breaking her shackles and from it all
Fear of reneging on her duty and fear of what others might
Her children of ten and eleven with them she feels obliged
For love and for duty and honour there has to be some price
Her husband has been cheating on her 'he's having his bit on
And she feels a devalued woman and damage been done to her
He once showed her lots of affection but that was a long
And loving has turned to loathing and hatred like noxious
She married for love not for money she hoped happiness she
But happiness lasted a brief while and only the memory
Of something that should or that might be till flame of
She only craved love and affection and that to her has been
Her husband only give her quarter of his earnings just
And she has to work for a living there's food to buy and
She cannot walk out on her children there's more than self
Her duty comes before self interest and her duty she cannot
Her dream in these times give her comfort a home in the
In Inverloch close to Wonthaggi on hill overlooking the sea
Alone in her room in the morning enjoying a nice cup of tea
Away from polluted suburbia, unhurried and totally free.
