It is of my own choice that i live far away
From where i was raised and first saw light of day
But not every migrant as lucky as me
So spare a thought for every poor refugee.
Out of fear of torture and necessity nothing more
The reason that they fled their Homeland shore
The suffering they've endured not ours to understand
And yet they pine for their own native Land.
In seeking a better life they have done nothing wrong
Freedom of choice to everyone does not belong
They can be held in detention for years like common prisoners serving time
Yet to want a better life happens to be their only crime.
Freedom of choice to everyone does not apply
Their right to a better life many of us them wish to deny
They fled their Homelands torture they did fear
And in on unseaworthy boats they risked their lives for to get here.
