Near 7 a m it must be close to nineteen degrees
And the rising sun shines on the low branches of the trees
In such a landscape one know peace and ease
On this pleasant morning with a warm and a gentle breeze.
The hilly paddock scent of new mown hay
And summer days less than a week away
And magpie pipes his notes of the late spring
His song to it has a distinctive ring.
Such scenic beauty from the higher ground
The hills look green and grassy all around
There is such natural beauty to admire
This place a landscape artist would inspire.
Where man and Nature live in harmony
In Kongwak seventeen miles from the sea
The blackbird pipes his old familiar air
And places such as this becoming rare.
The grey butcherbird he pipes in the sunlight
Where all is peaceful beautiful and quiet
A memory to cherish and enjoy
That will live in me until the day I die.
